The Carlton Tavern is a superb example of a 1930's pub which retains many of its original features. You can be assured of a friendly welcome from landlord Chris and his staff with up to 6 real ales on tap at any one time. The pub hosts regular beer festivals featuring a range of guest ales and the infamous 6.5% "Carlton Crippler" specially brewed by Hydes of Manchester.

Recently restored to its former condition, following the failed Bar & Courtyard interlude. The floor is a patchwork of tiles and wooden parquet typical of many of the older houses in Handbridge, with furniture to match. The walls are decorated by framed collections of cigarette cards, and assorted sporting trophies from an earlier period. A coal fire is an added attraction in the old lounge area. Excellent selection of real ales.
