New Woodland Plan for Eccleston and Duke's Drive

Map showing the area of the proposed woodland.

Map showing  proposed woodland areas outlined in green and Duke's Drive in red

Eaton Estate have submitted an application to the Forestry Commission to plant 21 hectares (54 acres) of new woodland near the River Dee in Eccleston and at the southern end of Duke's Drive. The new woodland, which includes a scheduled ancient monument, will be laid with public trails and maintained to preserve views in an area rich in nature and archaeological heritage.

During the construction of the A55 road, in the 1990s, a medieval building was found near Duke's Drive. To ensure no damage is done by the trees, exploratory digs will take place before the woodland is planted.

You can view the proposal and respond to the consultation on the Forestry Commission website (view application 29700).

We strongly urge you to support the application.

Revised Plans for West Cheshire College Motor Vehicle Workshop

West Cheshire College Campus in Handbridge

Revised plans and information have been submitted for the proposed West Cheshire College motor vehicle workshop at their Chester Campus in Eaton Road, Handbridge. The revisions address most of the concerns expressed by residents.

The new building is to be rotated at 90 deg so that the workshop doors will now face the main building and the parking bays are back to back with existing parking. The office and ancillary space will be relocated to the western elevation fronting Eaton Road and the bund surrounding the building has been removed from the plans.

By applying these changes both the encroachment into the greenbelt and visual impact from Eaton Road has reduced significantly.
